Removing and Installing Rear Window (Touring)



51 31 200 Removing And Installing Rear Window (Touring)

Remove rear spoiler.







Disconnect plug connection (1).







Detach adhesive tapes (1) and expose leads (2).







Detach adhesive tapes (1) and expose leads (2).







Feed out rubber grommet (1) on left/right.
Release nut (2) on left/right and detach cable (3).







NOTE: This work step must be carried out with a second person assisting.

Loosen left/right screws (1).
If spacers are fitted, remove them and make a note of number.
Release screws (1) on left/right and remove rear window (2).
Place rear window (2) on a clean surface.

CAUTION: The rear window (with frame) must not be pulled or lifted by its plugs, wires or foil conductor (risk of damage).







Installation:
Replace retainer inserts (1).
Replace rubber mounts (2).







Install rear window (1) and fix in place with screws (2).
Gap dimensions of rear window.
Adjustment of rear window.

Replacement only (51 31 221 and 51 31 231):

NOTE:
- The extent of the conversion work required depends on the car's equipment.
- For this reasons, the required work steps may differ from the work steps shown here.
- The conversion work must be adapted according to the car's equipment.







Unfasten plug connection (1).
Release nut (2) and remove control unit (3).
Feed all leads out of holder (4).
Release expansion rivets (5) and remove holder (4).
Remove rear window button.
