CCC(R) - CD/DVD Drive Errors

CCC: CD/DVD Drive Errors

MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series) with SA 609 CCC

E63, E64 (6 Series)

[NEW] E90, E91, E92, E93 (3 Series) with SA 609 CCC

[NEW] SITUATION
The customer may complain of one or more of the following:

1. The CD/DVD drive is not able to read the inserted CD/DVD properly.

2. The CD/DVD drive is noisy (whistling, scratching, etc.) when in use.

[NEW] CAUSE
Faulty CD/DVD disc or CD/DVD drive

[NEW] PROCEDURE

1. Insert the affected CD/DVD into another vehicle and see if the problem persists.

2. If the problem is present in the other vehicle, the CD/DVD disc is faulty.

3. If the problem is not present in the other vehicle, follow the test plan as described below:

4. Perform the short test.

5. Page right to the "Diagnosis Fault symptom selection" screen.

6. From the top box, select "6500 Audio, video navigation".

7. From the middle box, select "CD/DVD playback faulty".

8. Select the "Transfer" button and the symptom will be moved to "Accepted symptoms".

9. Page right and select the "General quality inspection B6500_ATC" test plan.

10. If the test plan indicates that the drive needs to be replaced, a diagnostic code will be displayed code will be displayed and should be used as an authorization to replace the drive.

11. It is NOT necessary to obtain a part replacement authorization (TeileClearing) for this specific issue. Refer to the warranty section of this bulletin for more details.

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.

If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.

Part replacement authorization is NOT required. Do NOT submit a TeileClearing PuMA case. A copy of the diagnostic report (short test), which includes a copy of the test modules that were completed, must be kept with the Repair order (RO) and FASTA data must be transmitted. When submitting a warranty claim, please include the following information in the comments section:

^ Diagnostic codes generated by the test plan.

^ SI B65 05 06 (CCC: CD/DVD drive errors)
