SUBJECT
The Service Engine Soon Light is on and EGS Fault CF1C Stored

MODEL
E90, E91, E92 with the GM 6L45R transmission produced 09/2006 up to 4/2007

SITUATION

The "Service Engine Soon" light is on and only fault: CF1C - No message from engine management is stored in the EGS module. The engine and transmission are operating properly.

CAUSE

EGS and DME CAN communication error.

CORRECTION

Perform a diagnostic "Short test" using only DIS 49.0 or higher. Follow the test plan for EGS fault CF1C which will perform a CAN learning function
reset and then clear the fault. Proper operation should then be restored.
