Recoding The Seat Occupation Mat (only USA)
Preparation for recoding:
Before the service function is run, the following must be carried out:
- Connect the OPS/OPPS with the special cable to the cigarette lighter
- Connect the OPS/OPPS via network cable to the network or directly to the diagnosis system
- Switch on terminal 15 (for cigarette lighter)
- Logically connect the OPS/OPPS with the diagnosis system (OPS/OPPS must not be logically connected to any other device)
- Disconnect the seat occupation mat
- Connect the special cable (from OPS/OPPS) to the seat occupation mat
- Do not apply any load to the seat occupation mat during coding

Description of the seat occupation mat:
The seat occupation mat in the USA version is an intelligent system that can detect various states on the front passenger's seat. The following states on the front passenger's seat can be distinguished:
- Not occupied (front passenger's airbag disabled / warning lamp)
- Child's seat (front passenger's airbag disabled / warning lamp)
- Handbag (front passenger's airbag disabled / warning lamp)
- Light person (front passenger's airbag enabled)
- Heavy person (front passenger's airbag enabled)

Coding data of the seat occupation mat:
The data of the evaluation logic is stored in the coding data of the seat occupation mat. In the case of light persons and unusual seating positions, the evaluation logic can have difficulty with making a distinction. This is indicated to the customer is by a warning lamp.

Recoding can improve the evaluation logic of the seat occupation mat. New coding data is only available for special seat/model series combinations!

On this model series, the seat occupation mat can only be recoded using the diagnosis system (DIS) and the OPS/OPPS. A special cable is required to connect the seat occupation mat to the OPS/OPPS.
