33 17 004 Replacing all front rubber mounts for rear final drive unit mountingSpecial tools required:
Important!
Lower the rear axle carrier to avoid overelongating the new rubber mount when sliding in the screw.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove rear differential
^ Lower rear axle support
Pull out rubber mount with special tools 33 5 166, 33 5 163, 33 5 162, 33 5 161, 33 4 466 and 33 4 465.
Note:
The milled recess of special tool 33 5 162 must point outward toward the rear axle support.
Use ratchet ring wrench 33 5 105.
Important!
Coat bearing bushing in rear axle carrier and rubber mount with Circo(R) Light (refer to BMW Parts Service).
Align rubber mount horizontally by way of slots (1).
Insert rubber mount (1) in special tool 33 5 164.
Draw in rubber mount (1) with special tools 33 5 165, 33 5 164, 33 5 163, 33 4 466 and 33 4 465 as far as it will go.
Note:
Use ratchet ring wrench 33 5 105.
