Protective Functions For The Power Windows

Protective functions are available to avoid a thermal overload of the power window motor.

Temperature protection (all series)
The temperature protection (thermal overload protection) is activated whenever the window is opened and closed 4 to 10 times in quick succession.
The window can then only be closed and is then disabled for 8 to 10 minutes.
After this cooling-down period, the power window drive can again be used normally.
The precise behavior (maximum number of operations and switch-off time) depends on the vehicle voltage and the programmed control unit software.

Central operation protective function (convertible only)
The following function is available as an extra protective function against a component overload for the central operation (opening or closing all windows) in the convertible E93:
Following the complete opening or closing of all windows a waiting period of 2 seconds must be observed before being operated again.
If this waiting period is not observed then all windows will not operate.
In the case of a complaint the customer must be informed that a waiting period of approx. 2 seconds must be observed after opening or closing the windows using the central operation switch. Then the operation can be carried out again.
