Coolant-temperature sensor, plausibility: signal hangs

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors whether the coolant
temperature sensor's signal is sticking in the lower
temperature range.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the engine runs hot and the
coolant temperature remains constant for longer than 10
min.
Potential problem source(s):
- Sensor defective
Terminal condition: none
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 9.15 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- 10 min.
Other conditions:
- Engine on

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory
immediately.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and sensor
- Replace sensor
