Wastegate valve, activation: Short circuit to B+

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the electrical connection
between the DME and the wastegate valve vacuum
converter.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when a short circuit to positive is
present.
Potential problem source(s):
- The wire from the DME to the wastegate valve vacuum
converter has a short circuit to positive.
- Vacuum converter for wastegate valve defective
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- none

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 1 sec.

Action in service
- Check wire from DME to wastegate valve vacuum
converter
- Replace wastegate valve pressure converter

Fault effect and breakdown warning
Breakdown notice:
- The engine reverts to its limp-home program, continued
vehicle operation is possible but drivability is restricted,
because power is reduced the driver should refrain from
passing maneuvers.
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Power loss may also be felt.
