SUBJECT

MODEL
E70 (X5)
E71 (X6)
E72 (ActiveHybrid X6)
F25 (X3)

Vehicles produced from 2/14/11 to 2/28/11

SITUATION

One or more of the following electrical malfunctions may occur:

E70, E71, E72

^ High-beam headlight switches on when using the one-touch directional.

^ Turn signal indicator works only when the high-beam headlight is on.

^ Turn signal indicator cannot be switched off

^ Glove compartment button is not working.

^ Interior light dimming feature is inoperative.

F25

^ Horn is not working.

^ Central locking for fuel filler door is inoperative.

CAUSE

Damaged wiring harness pins and contacts for one or more of the following control modules:

^ SZL (Steering Column Switch Cluster)

^ FRM (Footwell Module)

^ JBE (Junction Box Electronics)

PROCEDURE

Perform diagnosis using ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application) and troubleshoot the stored faults. The stored fault will help identify which circuit might have the wiring contact/pin issue.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays:

"Battery voltage only "N" V. Please connect charger"

Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.

1. Check the pins of the affected control module and replace the module if any pins are bent.

2. Check the contact pins in the harness for any pins that might be damaged (pins that have the contact opening closed slightly can damage the pins of the control module).

Note:
The FRM is shown as an example in the picture.

3. After the repair, delete all faults and check the operation of the system.
