SUBJECT: "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT OMITTED

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 ELECTRAS EQUIPPED WITH 4.3L (VIN CODE T) DIESEL ENGINES


General Motors has determined that some 1985 Electras equipped with 4.3L diesel engines may have been built with instrument panel clusters that did not include the "Service Engine Soon" light. This light, which is part of the emission control system, is designed to indicate that there may be something wrong with this system. Refer to Diesel Electronic Control System information in Section 5 of the 1985 Electra and Park Avenue Owner's Manual.
