Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments


Exc. 4-110 (1.8L) & 4-122 (2.0L) Turbo
1. Remove TPS attaching screws, then apply thread locking compound 1052624 or equivalent to screw threads and reinstall. Do not tighten screws.
2. Connect suitable SCAN tester to diagnostic connector, or install three jumper wires between TPS and TPS harness connector and connect digital voltmeter to TPS terminals ``A'' and ``B'' on all except V6-231 (3.8L) or terminals ``B'' and ``C'' on V6-231 (3.8L) engines.
3. With ignition on and engine not running, measure sensor voltage.
4. With throttle in closed position, adjust TPS to obtain .55 ± .05 volts on V6-173 (2.8L) and V6-181 (3.0L); .40 ± .05 volts on V6-231 (3.8L); .54 ± .075 volts on V8-305 (5.0L) & V8-350 (5.7L).
5. Tighten screws, then recheck adjustment to ensure it did not change.
6. Turn ignition Off, then remove jumper wires and connect TPS wire connector.
