SUBJECT: REASSEMBLY OF CS-144 SLIP RING END FRAME
MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-1987 CENTURY, REGAL, LESABRE, RIVIERA 1987 ELECTRA
NOTE: This bulletin supersedes 87-6D-5, dated January, 1987, to include art which was omitted from original bulletin.
INTERNAL COMPONENTS ASSEMBLY:
Comments indicate that some CS-144 Delcotron generators in the field are being reassembled incorrectly. The internal components must be reassembled and
tightened in the order indicated below, shown in illustration:
1. Install rectifier bridge and capacitor. The capacitor strap has an insulator material which rests on the end frame "ground". Bolt rectifier bridge into place.
2. Install regulator and brush holder. The capacitor strap "metal side" touches the regulator connection. Tighten insulated screws.
3. Crimp and solder regulator terminals. Avoid excessive heat.
4. Install stator and tighten nuts.
Assembly in any other manner than indicated above will result in:
a. No output when operated, or
b. Direct internal ground for output terminal.
