Compressor HVAC: Testing and Inspection

CHART 1 COMPRESSOR WON'T ENGAGE









Circuit Description: The compressor clutch coil is supplied voltage from the 10 amp A/C fuse through a relay which is grounded by the PCM.

Test Description: Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. Checks to see that the Lo side temperature sensor is responding properly.
2. Checks to see if the fault is in the control to the relay or the control to the clutch.
3. Checks to see if the fault is in the feed to the relay.
4. Checks to see if the fault is the control of the relay or the relay itself.
5. Checks to see if fault is due to open in CKT 762 or short in CKT including PCM.
6. Checks to see fault is due to open in feed CKT 50C to relay or feed to clutch.
7. Checks to see if fault is due to clutch or circuits providing clutch its power and ground.
