Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. On Corvette models, disconnect exhaust system and remove upper and lower underbody braces, if equipped.
4. On Camaro and Firebird models, remove torque arm, propeller shaft, exhaust hanger, transmission support and transmission mount. Support transmission with a suitable jack.
5. On 1991 Caprice, Roadmaster and Custom Cruiser models, remove floorpan reinforcement, catalytic converter heatshield, transmission support and transmission mount. Support transmission with a suitable jack.
6. On all models, remove two oil pan bolts and install servo cover depressor tool No. J-29714 or equivalent on oil pan flange to depress servo cover.
7. Remove servo cover retaining ring, then remove tool.
8. Remove cover and seal ring which may be in case.
9. Remove servo piston and bore-apply pin assembly.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
