Brake Signal: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The brake switch is a normally closed switch that supplies battery power to the torque converter clutch solenoid and a voltage signal to the brake input terminal of the PCM. When the brakes are applied, the torque converter clutch is disengaged and the cruise control is turned "OFF".
OPERATION
The brake switch actually contains two switches. Both portions of the switch are normally closed and open when the brakes are applied. This interrupts the voltage signal to the "cruise brake" input terminal of the PCM, and interrupts the power supply to the TCC solenoid inside the transaxle.
