Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments

Neutral Start & Backup Lamp Switch - Removal And Adjustment:







LOCATION
The PRNDL switch is part of the transmission Neutral Safety-Back Up (NSBU) Switch, located on the top of the transaxle.

REMOVE OR CONNECT
1. Air cleaner housing and duct.
2. Remove the shift linkage, electrical connector and vacuum hose.
3. Attaching nut and shift lever.
4. Fuel line bracket and bolt.
5. Bolts and switch.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
^ Switch and attaching bolts finger tight.

ADJUST
1. Place transaxle manual linkage lever shaft (#12) in the "NEUTRAL" position. Ensure proper shift control adjustment.
2. Rotate switch (#13) on shifter assembly to align service adjustment hole with carrier tang hole.
^ Insert 2.34 mm (3/32") max. diameter gage pin to a depth of 12 mm (15/32").
^ Tighten two adjusting screws (#16) to 27 Nm (20 lb ft).
3. Remove gage pin.

CAUTION: Personal injury may result if the engine can be started in a drive position.
