Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Cam And Crankshaft Sensor Installation:
The cam shaft sensor is located on the timing cover behind the water pump near the camshaft sprocket. As the engine turns, a lug on the camshaft sprocket passes in close proximity to the sensor, disturbimg the magnetic field near the sensor and generating an electrical signal. This is interpreted as a cam shaft signal. The camshaft signal occurs when piston #1 is approximately 25 degrees After Top Dead Center on the power stroke.
