Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail Assembly:

Remove or Disconnect:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Relieve fuel system pressure
3. Remove resonator and resonator bracket
4. Remove fuel rail assembly

Disassemble
1. Rotate injector retainer clip to release position
2. Remove SPFI injector assembly
3. Remove injector O-ring seals from both ends of injector and discard
4. Remove injector retainer clip

Assemble
1. Lubricate new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil, and install on injector
2. Install new retainer clip onto injector
3. Fit injector into fuel rail injector socket, with electrical connector facing outward
4. Rotate injector retainer clip to locking position

Install or Connect:
1. Install fuel rail assembly
2. Install resonator and bracket
3. Tighten fuel filler cap
4. Connect negative battery cable

Inspect:
Turn ignition switch to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position and check for fuel leaks.
