Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

ECT Service:

Care must be taken when handling engine coolant temperature sensor. Damage to engine coolant temperature sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain radiator coolant.
2. Air induction tube.
3. Electrical connector.
4. Using a 19 mm deep well socket and an extension to remove sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Coat engine coolant temperature sensor threads with sealer P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
2. Hand start ensor in engine.

Tighten
Sensor to 30 Nm (22 ft lb).

3. Electrical connector.
4. Refill coolant, install air induction tube.
5. Negative battery cable.
6. Start engine check for leaks.
7. Recheck coolant level.
