TOOL REQUIRED:
J 38491 Spark Plug Heat Shield Removal Tool.


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Ignition key OFF.
2. Fuel rail cover.
3. Spark plug wires from spark plugs.
a. Note position of wires BEFORE removing.
b. Twist the boot 1/2 turn BEFORE removing. Using J 38491, gently pry heat shield up from spark plugs (right rear cylinders ONLY).
4. Spark plug wires from wire looms.
5. Spark plug wires from coil pack.


NOTE: If replacing the spark plug wires, transfer the following:

^ Boot heat shields.
^ Spark plug wire conduit.


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Spark plug wires to coil pack.
- To proper location noted when removed.
2. Spark plug wires to wire loom.
3. Spark plug wires to spark plugs.
- To proper location noted when removed.
- Make sure heat shield is seated against bump stop and lower tabs extend over hex on spark plugs (right rear cylinders ONLY).
4. Fuel rail cover.
