Compressor Replacement

J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System

Remove or Disconnect

- Recover refrigerant from A/C system.
1. Accessory drive belt.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Splash shield.
4. Electrical connector from compressor.
5. Electrical connector from A/C pressure sensor.
6. Suction/discharge refrigerant hose assembly from rear of compressor.
7. Front compressor mounting nuts.
8. Nut from rear of compressor.
9. Compressor.
10. Stud for Compressor.

Install or Connect

1. Stud to replacement compressor.
2. Compressor.
3. Mounting nuts and bolt.

Tighten
- Compressor mounting nuts 50 N.m (37 lb. ft.).

4. Rear bolt to compressor.

Tighten
- Bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft.).

5. Suction/discharge refrigerant line assembly to rear of compressor.

Tighten
- Nut to 30 N.m (22 lb. ft.).

6. Electrical connections to compressor.
7. Electrical connection to A/C pressure sensor.
8. Splash shield.

Tighten
- Side Bolt 6 N.m (53 lb. in.).
- Front Bolt 24 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

9. Lower vehicle.
10. Accessory drive belt.
- Evacuate, charge and leak test the A/C system.
