Wiper Motor Linkage: Service and Repair

Description:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Wiper arm assemblies from wiper transmission assembly drive shafts.
2. Air inlet screen assembly from vehicle.
3. Connector (16) from wiper motor assembly (17).
4. Wiper transmission assembly (18) from wiper motor crank arm assembly (19) using tool J 39232.
5. Three screws (20) and wiper drive system module (21) from vehicle.
6. Two caps (27) from wiper transmission assembly (18).
7. Four screws (28) and wiper transmission assembly (18) from tube frame (29)
8. Three grommets (30 and 31) from tube frame (29).
9. Wiper motor assembly from tube frame.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Wiper motor assembly on tube frame.
2. Crank arm assembly on wiper motor assembly.
3. Three grommets (31 and 30) on tube frame (29).
4. Wiper transmission assembly (18) on tube frame (29) with four screws (28).

Tighten
^ Screws to 9 N.m (79 lb. in.).

5. Two new caps (27) on wiper transmission assembly (18).
6. Wiper drive system module (21) on vehicle with three screws (20).

Tighten
^ Screws to 10 N.m (88 lb. in.).

7. Wiper transmission assembly (18) on wiper motor crank arm assembly (19) using tool J 39529.
8. Connector (16) on wiper motor assembly (17).
9. Air inlet screen assembly on vehicle.
10. Wiper arm assemblies on wiper transmission assembly drive shafts.
11. Operate wipers and check for proper operation.
