Compressor Replacement

A/C Compressor Mounting:






Tool Required:
J 39500 A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recharging, and Recycling Station

Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Recover the A/C system.
3. Serpentine belt.
4. Raise vehicle.
5. Compressor/condenser hose assembly from compressor and discard sealing washers.
6. Clutch electrical connector.
7. Splash shield.
8. Compressor bolts.
9. Compressor to engine spacer.
10. Compressor.

Important
^ If replacing compressor, refer to Refrigerant Oil Distribution.

Install or Connect

1. Compressor.

Tighten
^ Bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

2. Compressor to engine spacer.
3. Compressor hose assembly.

Tighten
^ Bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

4. Splash shield.
5. Clutch electrical connector.
6. Compressor/condenser hose assembly using new sealing washers.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Serpentine belt.
9. Negative battery cable.

Tighten
^ Bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
11. Check system operation.
