Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General

The keyless entry system allows the driver to use a hand held radio transmitter in order to perform the following functions outside of the vehicle:
^ Unlock the door locks
The courtesy lights activate automatically when the door is unlocked.
^ Lock the door locks
^ Release the rear compartment lid
^ Activate the remote alarm

The transmitter operates on the UHF band. The transmitter digitally sends the coded signals to the Remote Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) when any of the remote transmitter buttons are pressed.

The RCDLR detects and decodes the transmitter signals. For all functions the RCDLR sends command messages to the Body Control Module (BCM) in order to operate the following components:
^ The door locks actuators
^ The courtesy lights
^ The remote alarm
^ The rear compartment lid release relay

The door lock and lighting systems can be operated by the switches on inside of the vehicle.

The keyless entry system may be programmed with up to 4 keyless entry transmitters.
