Drain Channel Inspection And Cleaning

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
The sliding window panel is designed for a controlled water entry at the seal. A correctly adjusted window panel produces in a snug fit between the following components:
^ The weatherstrip
^ The roof

Inspect for a correct fit by inserting a piece of paper between the following components:
^ The weatherstrip
^ The roof

Ensure that the piece of paper has some resistance when pulled out when the window is in the closed position. A minimal gap is essential. The gap ensures that the water to the sunroof drain hoses is not excessive. Objectionable wind noise may result if the gap clearances are exceeded. The sunroof window to roof adjustments are made by performing the following procedures:
^ Adjusting the height of the window.
^ Centering the window.
.

Adequate drainage is provided by a drain trough in the sunroof module. The trough has the following features:
^ The sunroof module encircles the sliding window panel.
^ The sunroof module leads to drain hoses located in each corner of the housing.

A drain channel provides the following functions:
^ Pans the rear of the sunroof module.
^ Directs the water into the trough.

The front drain hoses are routed through the following path:
^ Down the windshield pillars
^ Out the center of each pillar
^ Between the upper and lower door hinges

The rear drain hoses are routed down the C-pillars. If a wet headlining or other water leak complaints are encountered, determine if the drainage system is plugged or disconnected before you make any adjustments.

Use a small container in order to pour the water into the module housing drain trough. If the water flow is restricted, use compressed air in order to blow out any material that is plugging the drain system. Test the system again.
