Battery Insulator Replacement




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
- Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
- Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices
.

1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Disconnect the battery (positive) cable.
3. Remove the underhood electrical center retaining nut at the strut tower stud. Place the underhood electrical center aside for access.
4. Remove the battery hold down retainer.
5. L67 only. Remove the wiring harness over the battery from the retainer at the upper radiator support for access.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery adjustment.

6. Adjust the battery for access.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator removal.

7. Remove the battery insulator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator installation.

1. Install the battery insulator.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery adjustment.

2. Return the battery to the proper position.
3. L67 only. Install the wiring harness over the battery to the retainer at the upper radiator support.
4. Install the battery hold down retainer.
5. Install the underhood electrical center and the underhood electrical center retaining nut at the strut tower stud.

Tighten
Tighten the underhood electrical center retaining nut to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Connect the battery (positive) cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery (positive) terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

7. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
