Draining the Power Steering System

1. Raise the front of the vehicle off of the ground. Ensure that the front wheels are free to turn.
2. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
3. Plug the power steering return hose port on the power steering pump.
4. Position the power steering return hose toward a large container in order to contain the draining power steering fluid.

5.1. Start the engine.
5.2. Run the engine at idle.
5.3. Have second person simultaneously fill the reservoir with standard power steering fluid or optional cold climate fluid.

7. Add approximately 0.968L (1 qt) in order to flush the power steering system.

9. Reconnect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
10. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
11. Fill the power steering system.
12. Bleed the power steering system.
