Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 26549-E Expansion Tube Remover
^ J 38042 Dual O-ring Joint Separator
^ J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System




1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Use the J 38042 in order to remove the condenser outlet dual O-ring joint.
3. Remove the A/C line clips.




4. Use the J 26549-E in order to remove the expansion tube from the line.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector




1. Install the new expansion tube with the short screen toward the evaporator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the expansion tube dual O-ring joint.

Tighten
Tighten the dual O-ring joint connections to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the A/C line clip and the nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 12 N.m (9 lb in).

4. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
5. Using the J 39400-A, leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.
