Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the vehicle speed sensor.
3. Remove the retaining bolt (9) and the sensor (10).
Installation Procedure
1. Inspect the O-ring (11). If damaged, replace as necessary.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the vehicle speed sensor (10) and the retaining bolt (9).
^ Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector at the sensor.
4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
^ Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
