Alarm Module: Service and Repair

THEFT DETERRENT CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution IN SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering column trim covers.
3. Remove the wire harness assembly (4) out of the wire harness strap (5).
4. Remove the wire harness straps (3) from the wire harness assembly.
5. Remove the wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).
6. Disconnect the theft deterrent module electrical connector.




7. Remove the theft deterrent control module (2) from the lock module assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the theft deterrent module (2) to the lock module housing.




2. Install a new wire harness strap to the upper tilt head assembly (2).
3. Install new wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly (3).
4. Install the wire harness assembly into the wire harness strap (5).
5. Connect the theft deterrent module electrical connector.
6. Install the steering column trim covers.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
8. Program the theft deterrent module. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components. Programming and Relearning
