Knee Diverter: Service and Repair



Knee Bolster Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement (Steering Column Filler Replacement) .




3. Remove the bolts from the knee bolster at the I/P.




4. Remove the bolts which secure the knee bolster to the steering column support.
5. Remove the knee bolster from the I/P.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the knee bolster to the instrument panel (I/P).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts which secure the knee bolster to the steering column support.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





3. Install the bolts which secure the knee bolster to the I/P.

Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement (Steering Column Filler Replacement) .
5. Install the left I/P insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left (Service and Repair) .
