Ignition Coil: Service and Repair



IGNITION COIL(S) REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.




2. Note order and disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil assemblies.
3. Remove the screws (1) securing the coil assemblies to the ignition control module (ICM).
4. Remove the coils (2) from the ICM (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the coils to the ICM, taking care not to bend the electrical terminals.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the ignition coil attaching screws.

Tighten the screws to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).

3. Connect the spark plug wires to the coils assemblies in the original positions.
