Starter Motor: Service and Repair
STARTER MOTOR REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the radiator air baffle.
4. Remove the starter solenoid "BAT" terminal nut.
5. Remove the positive battery cable from the solenoid.
6. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the starter.
7. Remove the starter motor bolts.
8. Remove the starter motor.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the starter motor to the engine block.
2. Install the starter motor bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.
3. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the starter.
4. Install the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid.
5. Install the starter solenoid "BAT" terminal nut.
Tighten the nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).
6. Install the radiator air baffle.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
