GENERATOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the windshield wiper transmission link in front of the wiper motor and position out of the way.
3. Rotate the engine forward. Refer to Rotating the Engine for Service Access.
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the generator.




6. Reposition the positive battery cable boot at the generator terminal.
7. Remove the positive battery cable terminal nut at the generator.
8. Remove the positive battery cable terminal from the generator.




9. Remove the generator lower bolts.




10. Remove the generator upper bolt.
11. Remove the generator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the generator.
2. Install the generator upper bolt until snug.




3. Install the generator lower bolts until snug.
4. Tighten the generator bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.




5. Install the positive battery cable terminal to the generator.
6. Install the positive battery cable terminal nut at the generator.

Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

7. Position the positive battery cable boot at the generator terminal.




8. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the generator.
9. Install the drive belt.
10. Position the engine into the normal location and install the engine mount strut bolts.
11. Position and connect the windshield wiper transmission link in front of the wiper motor.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
