Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 1

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the three-way catalytic converter. Refer to Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement).
3. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector (1).




4. Loosen and remove the knock sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: DO NOT apply thread sealant to the sensor threads. The sensor threads are coated at the factory. Applying additional sealant affects the sensors ability to detect detonation.




1. Install and tighten the knock sensor (1).

Tighten the sensor to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




2. Connect the knock sensor electrical connector (1).
3. Install the three-way catalytic converter. Refer to Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement).
4. Lower the vehicle.
