Oil Pan: Service and Repair


1982 V6-252 ELDORADO & SEVILLE
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove one final drive to transmission bolt.
3. Install engine support and hoist car, then install jack stands and lower hoist.
4. Disconnect idler arm bracket at frame.
5. Lock steering wheel in full left position.
6. Disconnect drive axles from output shafts and disconnect battery cable bracket from output shaft support, then disconnect shaft support from engine block.
7. Remove remaining final drive to transmission bolts and place transmission jack under final drive.
8. Remove final drive cover and final drive unit.
9. Remove splash shield, then disconnect starter wires and remove starter.
10. Remove flywheel cover and drain oil pan.
11. Remove oil pan attaching bolts and remove oil pan.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Apply suitable RTV sealer when installing pan.
