Valve Lifter - New Design

Bulletin No. T 83-46

Number 33
Date Feb. '83
NEW DESIGN VALVE LIFTER - 1982-1983 HT4100 ENGINE

A new valve lifter (P/N 5234360) has been released for 1982 and 1983 Cadillac HT4100 engines. This new lifter has a revised foot radius (smaller diameter radius - more convex) and should be used whenever lifter replacement is required on an HT4100 engine. Should a condition occur which requires that a camshaft be replaced on an HT4100 engine, the 16 lifters should also be replaced as recommended in the Cadillac Service Information Manual with the new design lifter.

The old design valve lifter (P/N 5234235), which is currently listed in the Parts Catalog as the service part for the HT4100 engine, should only be used for the current 6.0L and all past model V-8 gasoline engines used after 1968.

Old & New Design Valve Lifter:

The new design lifter can be identified by the addition of two machined grooves in the lifter body (refer to illustration).
