Evaporator Core: Service and Repair


BROUGHAM, 1984 DEVILLE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors at blower motor, compressor cycling switch, power module and radio lead-in connections.
3. Remove screws on compressor cycling switch, then remove insulation, loosen hose clamps and remove compressor cycling switch.
4. Remove righthand windshield washer nozzle.
5. Remove secondary inlet screen attaching screws, then partially remove rubber molding above plenum.
6. Remove remaining screws and the primary inlet screen.
7. Remove blower motor.
8. Disconnect evaporator to accumulator connection at top of accumulator.
9. Remove screw and partially remove accumulator bracket.
10. Remove all screws from top of evaporator case cover and remove cover.
11. Disconnect condenser to evaporator connection.
12. Remove evaporator core by lifting straight up and out of module.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
