Barometric Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

When replacing a Bendix MAP or BARO sensor with a Delco sensor, both MAP and BARO sensors must be replaced and a sensor mounting kit used to complete the installation.
1. Remove instrument panel lower cover.
2. Remove four glove box liner retaining screws, then the glove box liner.
3. Disconnect BARO sensor electrical connector using caution not to damage small gauge wires on sensor side. Note that BARO sensor has male connector on sensor and female connector on harness, while MAP connectors are reverse.
4. Remove screw securing MAP/BARO bracket to instrument panel, then the screw securing BARO sensor and ground strap to bracket. Remove sensor through glove box opening, Fig. 42.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque sensor and ground strap to bracket screw to 3 ft. lbs.
