Self Diagnostic Functions

The dash-mounted light(s) in the righthand information center is used to inform the driver of certain ECM detected DEFI system malfunctions or abnormalities. These malfunctions may be related to the various sensors or to the ECM itself. The light resets automatically when the fault clears; however, the ECM stores the trouble code associated with the detected failure until the diagnostic system is cleared.
The dash-mounted digital display panel normally used for the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) system, is used to display trouble codes stored in the ECM when desired.
Any codes that may be stored can be called up and/or cleared by properly exercising the ECC controls.
