Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Service and Repair

When replacing a Bendix MAP or BARO sensor with a Delco sensor, both MAP and BARO sensors must be replaced and a sensor mounting kit used to complete the installation.
1. Remove instrument panel lower cover.
2. From under righthand end of instrument panel, disconnect MAP hose from sensor, Fig. 42.
3. Disconnect MAP sensor electrical connector using caution not to damage small gauge wires on sensor side. Note that MAP sensor has female connector on sensor and male connector on harness, while BARO connectors are the reverse.
4. Remove screw securing MAP sensor to MAP/BARO bracket, then the sensor.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque bracket retaining screw to 3 ft. lbs.
