Neutral-Engine Running

In this range, the torque converter is filled, all the clutches except for the overdrive roller clutch are released and the band is also released.

With the selector lever in Neutral, the manual valve is positioned to permit line pressure to enter two passages.

The first is the Reverse, Neutral, Drive 4 (RND4) passage, where line pressure is directed to a land on the 3-4 shift valve.

The second is the Reverse, Neutral, Drive 4, Drive 3 (RND4D3) passage, where line pressure is directed to a land on the 2-3 shift valve.
