Evaporator Core: Service and Repair






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain/refill coolant from cooling system (while working).
2. Junction block cover nut (1) and cover (2) at upper right cowl panel.
3. Wires and vacuum hoses.
4. Heater core inlet and outlet coolant hoses from heater core.
5. Refer to the following areas for removal of power module water valve bracket, and blower motor.
6. Blower motor case heat shield.
7. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket from heba cover (leave map sensor on the bracket) .
8. Right hand hush panel, heater outlet and heba module bolt (3) (behind heater outlet).
9. High pressure line to inlet pipe at orifice tube (includes replacing orifice).
10. Evaporator block fitting bolt (4) from evaporator.
11. Raise/lower car.
12. Lower (2 center) module cover bolts (5) and evaporator drain plug.
13. Nine module cover bolts (6) and both halves of cover (requires prying and use of force).
14. Four screws attaching sheet metal cover to module and evaporator.
15. Evaporator screw and evaporator.
16. Reseal heba module as required.
17. Lower/raise car.
18. Reverse procedure to install.

Tighten: Evaporator block fitting bolt (4), 17 Nm (12 ft lbs), module cover retaining bolts (3), (5), 4 Nm (3 ft lbs), and the module cover retaining bolts (6), 3 Nm (4 ft lbs).
