MODEL: 1985 FRONT WHEEL DRIVE DE VILLE, FLEETWOOD AND LIMOUSINE
SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT
This Special Policy provides coverage for repairs resulting from air conditioner compressor failure for five years from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service regardless of mileage or ownership. Should the air conditioner compressor fail during the five year period, Cadillac will cover the parts and labor for the compressor and other air conditioner system parts directly related to the compressor failure. In addition, deductible provisions of the Major Assembly Coverage are waived in this Special Policy.
This "Special Policy Adjustment Bulletin" should be filed in the 3-ring binder furnished to the dealer by General Motors Corporation in September, 1982.
VEHICLES INVOLVED
ALL 1985 front wheel drive Cadillac De Villes, Fleetwoods and Limousines are eligible for this Special Policy Adjustment.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
OWNERS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM CADILLAC MOTOR COMPANY. A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER IS ATTACHED.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE: Dealers must utilize the most current published service procedure available for air conditioner compressor diagnosis and repair. Be advised that from time-to-time Cadillac may change these procedures. If this occurs, it is the responsibility of Dealer Service Management to assure the most up to date published procedures are followed.
CREDIT
Credit will be issued upon receipt of a properly prepared warranty claim using Labor Operation D4440 (Compressor Replacement) and the time listed in the appropriate Labor Time Guide. Any additional time required due to related repairs should be listed as "Other Hours" and will require approval.
OWNER REIMBURSEMENTS FOR PREVIOUSLY INCURRED EXPENSES
Consideration should be given to owners of 1985 De Ville, Fleetwood and Limousine models who previously paid for repairs covered by this Special Policy Adjustment. In the event an owner requests reimbursement, the dealer should obtain the owner's paid receipts or invoices to verify the expense. Owners should be advised to retain copies of these documents for their personal records before surrendering the originals.
The dealer is to advise the owner that the invoices will be reviewed by a Cadillac Zone Representative and that the owner will be advised as quickly as possible of the amount that will be reimbursed. When a request is approved, the dealer is requested to issue the owner a reimbursement check.
Dealers will be credited for this reimbursement through the submittal of a Warranty Claim (to be submined as one net amount with zone approval) as detailed below:

Dear Cadillac Owner:
As part of Cadillac Motor Car Company's continuing commitment to customer satisfaction, we want you to be aware of a Special Policy on the air conditioner compressor being provided to owners of 1985 front wheel drive, De Ville, Fleetwood and Limousine models.
This Special Policy provides coverage for repairs resulting from air conditioner compressor failure for five years from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service regardless of mileage or ownership. Should the air conditioner compressor fail during the five year period, we will cover the parts and labor for the compressor and other air conditioner system parts directly related to the compressor failure. In addition, the normal customer pay deductible will be waived. Repairs must be completed by an authorized Cadillac Dealer.
In the event you have already encountered this condition and paid for all or part of the repair, you should contact your Cadillac Dealer. Please present the dealer with the original paid receipt or invoice verifying expense incurred for such repair. (You may wish to retain copies of these documents for your personal records before surrendering the originals.) All requests for reimbursement should be made before April 30, 1989.
We suggest you keep this letter and store it in the glove compartment, along with the Owner's Manual, Maintenance Schedule, and Warranty Booklet.
