Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair


NEUTRAL START LAMP SWITCH

Park-Neutral-Backup Lamp Switch:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Left sound insulator (if equipped).
3. Wiring at switch assembly (821).
4. Switch assembly (21).

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Switch assembly (821).
A. Place transmission assembly in "NEUTRAL".
B. Align actuator on switch assembly (821) with hole in shift tube.
C. Position connector side of switch assembly (821) to fit into cutout on steering column jacket (824).
D. Push down on switch assembly (821) to lock the tangs on switch assembly (821) into place on the steering column jacket (824).
E. Move switch assembly (821) to "LOW" gear position.
F. Place transmission in PARK; switch assembly (821) will ratchet as it adjust itself.
2. Wiring at switch assembly (821).
3. Left sound insulator (if removed).
4. Negative (-) battery cable.
