Preliminary Checks

Diagnostic steps for the symptoms listed in the following tables are listed after the table.

The cruise control is operated by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When certain Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) are set, the PCM will command the cruise control to disengage. Start the diagnosis by checking for stored trouble codes in the PCM.

If any diagnostic codes or messages are displayed, go to Powertrain Management / Computers and Control Systems. If no codes are present, continue with the diagnostics at the first table.
