Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Throttle Body Assembly - Exploded View:

REMOVAL:

1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
3. Remove the two TPS attaching screws and retainers.
4. Remove the Throttle Position Sensor.

INSTALLATION:

1. With the throttle valve in the normally closed position, install the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the throttle body assembly. Be sure the throttle shaft flats engage the TPS drive tongs.
2. Install the two TPS attaching screws with retainers. DO NOT tighten screws until TPS is adjusted.
3. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Adjust the TPS, refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
