Spark Plug: Service and Repair

SPARK PLUGS REPLACEMENT

NOTICE: It is important that technicians wash their hands after handling coated spark plugs and before smoking. The coating itself is a non-hazardous material and incidental contact will not cause any adverse effects. However, exposure to polymer vapors the result of contamination of cigarette products and subsequent burning of the polymer may result in flu-like symptoms and should be avoided.

IMPORTANT:
^ Do not remove spark plugs when engine is warm.
^ Clean dirt and debris from spark plug recess area.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Spark plug wires at spark plugs.

IMPORTANT: Use care when removing spark plug boots from spark plugs. Twist the boot 1/2 turn before removing and then PULL ON THE BOOT ONLY to remove it. DO NOT PULL ON THE WIRE as this may damage the spark plug wire.

2. Spark plug from cylinder head.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Spark plug into cylinder head. Make sure spark plug is gapped to 1.27 mm (0.050 in) before installation. Tighten Spark plugs to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
