Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.

IMPORTANT: If necessary, remove the windscreen wiper motor.

1. Partially drain the coolant system.

NOTE: Mask off the intake ports. Accidental entry of foreign objects can cause severe engine damage.

2. Remove the Intake Plenum.
3. Remove the Intake Bridge.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the ECT sensor.
5. Remove the ECT sensor (1) from the Coolant Bridge.
6. Clean any spilled coolant.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Apply a non-hardening sealer to the sensor threads prior to installation in order to prevent coolant leaks. Use P/N 1050805 or the equivalent
^ Refer to Component Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the ECT sensor (1) into the coolant bridge.

Tighten
Tighten the ECT Sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

2. Connect the wiring harness to the ECT sensor.
3. Install the Intake Bridge.
4. Install the Intake Plenum.
5. If the wiper motor is removed, install the windscreen wiper motor.
6. Refill the coolant system.
