Crankshaft Position Timing Ring: Service and Repair

CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) RELUCTOR RING REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the Negative Battery Terminal.
2. Remove the engine front cover. Service and Repair
3. Remove the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTICE: Failure to properly align the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring may result in component damage and effect OBD 11 system performance.

IMPORTANT: The reluctor ring is shaped like a dish. The dish must face the engine front cover. Failure to do so will damage the engine front cover and the reluctor ring.





1. Install the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring.
2. Align the keyway on the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring with the woodruff key (crankshaft balancer) in the crankshaft.
3. Push the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring onto the crankshaft until completely seated against the crankshaft sprocket.
4. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
5. Install the Negative Battery Terminal. Refer to Battery Cable in Powertrain Management.
